Street art/ Bob Ross style

2020

During this period of transition to digital art, I was trying to see if it was possible to recreate certain art styles digitally and how best to go about doing so. Below you can see how this progressed into something more polished and effective though multiple experiments of different aspects.

This was an image that I later animated into a GIF. It was for a small rap song called bury me alive. The artist wanted something that could be in the background of the music video while the music played over the top. He wanted something that felt artsy while grassroots and so he felt that this style of spray paint street art was a nice fit. Recreating this look helped me learn a lot in my early days of digital art.

Rough:3 While experimenting with how to create a more traditional look I was inspired by the idea of what it must have been like for those who first discovered new lands and the ominous feelings that must have evoked crossing paths with other expeditions while exploring these new worlds.

Feeling the festive spirit, I endeavoured to try throw together a concept for a Christmas card. Inspired by movies such as home alone, elf and Santa clause. The aim was to depict and capture the awe felt by children around the world awaiting Christmas morning looking to the stars.

Rough 2: Experimenting with colours and different brushes.

Rough:1 Experimenting with how to encourage the order in which someone views the image and placement of focal points.
